Deadly Day on Roads: Five People Killed in Four Accidents Within Hours

Five people were killed today in four separate traffic accidents in Tel Aviv, the Negev and Kiryat Ata, within a matter of hours.

In the morning hours, a cyclist in his 50s was killed after being struck by a vehicle near Yunitsman Street in Tel Aviv, taken to the hospital in critical condition where his death was confirmed. According to suspicion, a 24-year-old undocumented resident from Nablus stole the vehicle and hit the cyclist while fleeing. The suspect was arrested, and the vehicle was found to contain, according to suspicion, tools used for vehicle theft.

Shortly thereafter, two men around 30 were killed in a collision between two private vehicles on Highway 310, near Kibbutz Givot Bar in the Negev. The two were found unconscious and Magen David Adom teams confirmed their deaths on site. According to a Magen David Adom medic Raziq Al-Touri, the two vehicles sustained severe damage to their front sections, and one stopped against the security barrier. Highway 310 was closed to traffic in both directions, and police accident investigators opened an investigation into the accident's circumstances.

At midday, a serious accident occurred on Highway 20, near the Kkl interchange in Tel Aviv, involving a bus and a private vehicle. The driver of the vehicle, about 70 years old, was extricated unconscious, without pulse and without breath, taken to Ichilov Hospital while being resuscitated, and later declared dead. In the accident, a 69-year-old man was also injured moderately and three other people were injured lightly.

Toward evening, a 35-year-old motorcyclist was killed after being struck by a vehicle on Highway 780 near Kiryat Ata. Paramedic Alex Bokhman and Magen David Adom paramedics Avi Feyblson and David Avraham said they found him lying by the roadside unconscious, without pulse and without breath, with very serious injuries to his body. They said, 'We performed medical tests but unfortunately his injuries were substantial and we had no choice but to confirm his death.'
