US approved sale of dozens of F-35 fighter jets to Saudi Arabia

American backing on the way? The US State Department announced tonight (Thursday) it approved a potential sale of 48 F-35 fighter jets to Saudi Arabia, with the deal valued at approximately $24 billion. According to the US announcement, the deal is subject to Congressional approval. The announcement also clarified that 'the military balance in the Middle East will not change' - a message directed primarily at Israel. More details coming shortly.
