The Israeli Navy and the Greek Navy conducted a joint naval exercise about two weeks ago, as announced today. Two Israeli missile ships and two Greek Navy vessels participated in the exercise.
According to the report, the forces trained in a variety of operational scenarios, including emergency scenarios, identification and prevention of threats in the maritime space. During the exercise, crew personnel were exchanged between the forces, aimed at promoting knowledge sharing and strengthening operational capabilities.
Shayetet 3 commander, Maj. Gen., said: 'Deepening cooperation with partner navies strengthens operational capabilities and international relations, and contributes to strengthening regional stability.' According to him, such cooperation deepens the readiness of forces to deal with various scenarios, strengthens the protection of Israel's maritime borders and the Navy as a strategic asset for the state and its security.
The exercise was held against the backdrop of broad tensions between Israel and Turkey. The IDF said it took place as part of ongoing cooperation between the navies, to strengthen the relationship between the forces and joint capability.
