According to Arutz 7, the 2026-27 academic-year plan developed with the Israeli military and Council for Higher Education includes alternative course assessments, help completing degrees and easier eligibility for academic excellence scholarships.
The plan reported this morning is intended for students whose military service has disrupted their studies. The number of courses offering alternative assessment depends on eligibility and type of service and can reach three. Options listed include assignments instead of exams, adjusted exams and using the higher grade from two examination sessions.
The report says the minimum credit requirement for service members applying for excellence scholarships will be reduced by ten percent. This eases application eligibility; it neither guarantees a scholarship nor reduces the degree's overall requirements. Students who extended their studies because of service are also meant to retain adjustments according to their eligibility.
The plan also includes support for postgraduate students, retention of class recordings for three months after the semester, and adjustments for spouses of personnel serving in frontline roles who have children aged up to 13. Details and implementation depend on the plan's conditions and eligibility group.
