Asian markets opened the trading week higher while oil prices declined. According to TheMarker's 07:13 update this morning, Brent futures fell about 3% to approximately $110 a barrel, while WTI futures dropped about 3.2% to roughly $100.80 a barrel.
In the same snapshot, Tokyo rose about 0.2%, Shanghai about 1.2% and Hong Kong about 0.6%. Seoul gained about 3% after Friday's decline. These figures refer to the time of the update and are neither live quotes nor closing results.
The report linked the oil decline to hopes that US-Iran contacts would prevent renewed fighting. This does not establish an agreement or a final decision. According to the report, Marco Rubio said yesterday that the president prefers a peaceful solution and had not yet decided. Changes in futures prices are not an announcement of a change in Israeli retail fuel prices.
