The military court in Samaria sentenced to life imprisonment terrorist Nadmi Abu Bakr, who was convicted of causing the death with intent of Sergeant Amit Ben Yigal, who was struck by half a brick thrown by the terrorist from the roof of a building in the village of Yaabad on May 12, 2020.
The military court in Samaria sentenced on Thursday to life imprisonment terrorist Nadmi Abu Bakr, who was convicted of causing death with intent, the offense equivalent to murder in Judea and Samaria. The terrorist was also convicted of obstructing justice, and was ordered to pay monetary compensation totaling more than 4 million shekels.
According to the facts presented, on May 12, 2020, during a security forces operational activity in the village of Yaabad to arrest wanted suspects, the terrorist threw from a building roof half a brick weighing nine to eleven kilograms at IDF soldiers with the aim of causing their death. The brick struck Sergeant Amit Ben Yigal and caused his death.
It was also noted that subsequently the terrorist fled from the roof to his home and feigned innocence to prevent his apprehension. After the forces left the area, he returned to the location, collected brick fragments from the scene of the strike, and threw them to the roadside, in an attempt to obstruct the investigation.
Last May, after hearing testimony from witnesses for the prosecution and the terrorist, the military court accepted the position of the military prosecution and convicted him. The sentence was handed down 5 months later. It was also stated that 'the military prosecution will continue to act to exhaust the law with anyone who harms state security,' and 'the IDF joins in the deep sorrow of the bereaved family and will continue to accompany it.'
