Rishon LeZion identifies possible source of strong odor

Mayor Raz Kinstlich said fuel and oil waste dumped into a sewer access chamber in western Rishon LeZion was probably the source of the strong odor. Teams took samples, special flushing is planned and those responsible will be investigated. This does not mean the nuisance has already been fully resolved. Mayor Raz Kinstlich said fuel and oil waste in a sewer access chamber in western Rishon LeZion was probably the source of the odor troubling residents. Samples were collected and special flushing is planned.

According to N12, the finding emerged during joint patrols by the municipality, Home Front Command, the Environmental Protection Ministry and the Meniv water corporation, following two days of complaints about a strong odor.

Kinstlich said an inquiry would seek to identify those responsible for dumping the waste, and flushing would take place in the coming days with the ministry. His announcement describes a possible source of the nuisance, rather than confirmation that the work is finished.

Residents reported irritation and breathing difficulties. According to the report, two women went to Shamir Medical Center with shortness of breath. Initial monitoring found no gas concentrations or abnormal readings, although complaints about the smell continued.
