Freed hostage Avichtan Or: 'I was clear we shouldn't make a deal at any price'
Freed hostage Avichtan Or gave his first interview since his release from Hamas captivity, telling Channel 12's 'Ugvah' program that you shouldn't make a deal at any price and that Israel must emerge from the war victorious. He said an immediate deal would have freed him, but someone else would have been sitting in captivity in his place. He also said he told the terrorists he would stay there until they understood that he was not worth it to them.

Freed hostage Avichtan Or gave his first interview since his release from Hamas captivity in an interview with Channel 12's 'Ugvah' program, and revealed his position on the hostage deal. He said, 'The disagreement was over matters of life and death,' centered on the question 'Are you saving lives now or also later?'
'I was clear that if we make a deal now, I will get out of here,' said Or, 'but later someone else would have sat here in my place.' He also said in the interview: 'I was clear we shouldn't make a deal at any price. That Israel must emerge from this war victorious.'
Or described a conversation he had with Hamas terrorists during his captivity: 'I'll stay here a day, two days, a year, two years and even 10 years. Eventually you'll understand that I'm not worth it to you.' He said, 'That will be victory.'
Later in the interview, Or recounted his first conversation with his parents when he met them at a hospital an hour after his release. He said his parents told him they hoped he was not angry at them, and he replied: 'I'm not angry at you, I'm proud of you.' 'My parents fought for me like crazy,' he said.
