Hostage survivor Matan Angrest, an IDF armored corps soldier who was released from Hamas captivity after 738 days, visited Saturday evening with his parents Anat and Haggi at the protest sukkah of the Kasao family, strengthened Haimnut's parents and called on the public to come and show support.
Hostage survivor Matan Angrest visited Saturday evening at the sukkah of Haimnut Kasao's family. Angrest, an IDF armored corps soldier who was taken hostage wounded and unconscious from his tank at Nahal Oz base during the Oct. 7, 2023 battles, was released from Hamas captivity after 738 days. He came with his parents Anat and Haggi, who fought for two years for his release, to strengthen Haimnut's parents, Bentzi and Tasmia.
'I can say that I felt for myself how much support from the people helped me come home,' Angrest said, and called on the people of Israel: 'Just as you helped me come home, now we have a moral mission to bring Haimnut home to her family's embrace as soon as possible.' Bentzi, Haimnut's mother, shared with him how difficult the uncertainty about her daughter's whereabouts and condition is, and asked: 'Until she comes home, don't let the issue drop from the headlines.' According to reports, Matan promised her he won't stop until Haimnut returns.
Anat Angrest, Matan's mother, said: 'We ask decision-makers to do everything needed to bring the girl back to her parents' embrace. I call on the people of Israel to continue, not to leave the family alone.' Haggi Angrest, Matan's father, wished the family 'that a miracle will happen for them too and Haimnut will return to them as soon as possible.'
The Angrest family was among thousands of visitors who visited this week the protest sukkah of the Kasao family, 'Haimnut's sukkah.' According to reports, at the end of the holiday the sukkah will be dismantled at the demand of the Jerusalem municipality, and the Kasao family is seeking to set up a protest tent in a visible and accessible location for the public and decision-makers.
