Israel Football Association chairman Shino Zuares sent Esawi Frej a warning letter following allegations about the association's elections. Zuares rejects the allegations and demands a correction, apology and compensation within seven days.
According to Walla, the letter was sent on October 21 following an interview in which Frej alleged that clubs' budget approvals were delayed until they expressed support for Zuares. Zuares denies any involvement in such pressure. His letter also cites the budget-control chief as saying she was not asked to apply pressure.
This is a demand ahead of possible legal proceedings, rather than damages awarded or a lawsuit filed according to the information reported. Frej said he welcomed a move that would expose the truth about the association's conduct. The parties' allegations have not been adjudicated in the report.
