This Island Among Lonely Planet's Top Destinations for 2027. But Not for Israelis

The travel magazine Lonely Planet published a list of 50 recommended destinations and experiences for 2027, chosen by its global community of travel experts and reflecting a trend of seeking quieter destinations, away from crowds, alongside nature, culture and local experiences.

The travel magazine "Lonely Planet" published its "Best in Travel 2027" list, containing 50 destinations and experiences selected by the magazine's global community of travel experts. According to the report, the selections reflect a trend of travelers increasingly seeking places where they can get away from crowds, slow down and experience nature, culture and local life, instead of checking off another famous site on a list.

Among the interesting names on the list is Montserrat, a small Caribbean island offering green peaks, black sand beaches and history related to Soufrière Hills volcanic eruptions that destroyed much of the island in the 1990s. Alongside Montserrat, Morocco's capital Rabat was also selected, combining historical sites, gardens, a modern skyline and sandy surf beaches. According to the report, tourists arriving in Morocco for the first time are typically more drawn to Marrakech, to which flights from Israel were recently renewed, as well as to Fes and the desert, rather than to Rabat.

In the Americas, Panama was selected, with the island of Bocas del Toro, as well as Granada in Nicaragua. In the United States, Maryland was selected, thanks to its combination of green hills, coastal areas, maritime heritage and a cuisine based on seafood, and alongside it were chosen northern California beaches and redwood forests, as well as New Mexico. In Canada, Quebec was selected, offering a blend of European character and Franco-Canadian culture, and Prince Edward Island.

In Japan, Okinawa was selected, the southern archipelago offering island culture, beaches and tropical nature. In China, Chengdu was selected, associated with tea houses, street food and local fashion. In the Maldives, the island of Fulidhoo was selected, which according to the report offers a more local and cheaper way to experience island life, in contrast to the country's image as a destination for private resort vacations. In Kenya, East Tsavo and West Tsavo national parks were selected, known for wide-open savannas, red earth and large elephant populations.

In Europe, the list included the city of Dessau in Germany, Sibenik in Croatia and León in Spain. Italy was represented through the Veneto region, which also includes the Dolomite mountains, Lake Garda and Renaissance cities Verona and Padua, not just Venice.
