Davidovitch refused a spot in Eisenkot's top five: 'I'm a doer'

Moshe Davidovitch was the only candidate in the local elections, and now he is entering national politics aiming to be Infrastructure Minister, the official responsible for the Negev and Galilee. Facing protected migrants, failing businesses and tax benefits that flowed elsewhere, he is opening a front against Netanyahu and Smotrich — and is not afraid to stay out of the game

Moshe Davidovitch, head of the Matte Asher Regional Council and chairman of the Front Line Forum who joined the slate of Gadi Eisenkot to the Knesset, refused an offer to be positioned among the top five on the list and makes clear he will not be a Knesset member in any way but will serve as Infrastructure Minister in charge of the Negev and Galilee.

Moshe Davidovitch, head of the Matte Asher Regional Council and chairman of the Front Line Forum, age 59 and resident of Bustan HaGalil, joined on September 7 the slate of Gadi Eisenkot to the Knesset and is positioned at number 40. According to reports, he was offered a spot among the top five on the slate, but he refused and preferred to serve as Infrastructure Minister designated to be in charge of the Negev and Galilee, a position where he is supposed to be responsible for budgets of tens of billions of shekels.

In an interview, Davidovitch made clear his position: 'I'm not going to be a Knesset member in any way or in any form.' According to him, 'I am a doer, and I love to work the ground,' and 'I don't want to be a parliamentarian who talks in committees.'

Davidovitch also addressed the situation of border communities in the north. According to him, in communities like Khirbat al-Armasheh, Adamit and Hanita there is an order of magnitude of 35% of residents who have no protection, the tax benefits promised to residents of the Front Line did not reach them while other communities received them, and the tourism and agriculture sectors 'took a beating.'

According to reports, Davidovitch is in a dispute with the government over resource allocation to the north. According to him, Forum members met with Eisenkot, Bennett, Liberman and Golan and also approached Netanyahu, 'and his people are considering and debating whether to meet with us,' while from Smotrich 'we did not receive a date for a meeting.'
