IDF increased activity in West Bank over concerns of additional terror attempts during holidays
The security establishment fears that terror operatives' frustration over their failure to carry out major attacks during the holidays will lead to additional attempts, including inspired attacks and copycat acts. On Yom Kippur, Duvdevan fighters arrested two terrorists in Qabatiya who, according to the IDF, planned an immediate attack, and in Biddu, the village of the terrorist who murdered Natanel Shakron near Neve Tzuf, more than a hundred locations were scanned and about 90 suspects were questioned. The IDF also raised readiness on the Gaza border without concrete warning.

According to reports, during Yom Kippur, IDF forces operated in several focal points in the West Bank to thwart attacks before they could be carried out. Duvdevan unit fighters arrested in Qabatiya two terrorists who, according to the IDF, planned to carry out an attack in the immediate timeframe, possibly already on Yom Kippur. The two were arrested based on intelligence during a broad battalion operation in the village.
Significant activity was also carried out in Biddu, the village from which the terrorist who carried out the shooting near Neve Tzuf emerged. The forces mapped his home, scanned more than a hundred locations, and questioned about 90 suspects, and as part of the reinforcement of forces, a Nuts unit was also transferred to the sector. The security establishment estimates that the terrorist acted alone and of his own accord.
In the shooting near Neve Tzuf in Benjamin, Natanel Shakron, of blessed memory, a resident of Alei Zahav in his 40s, was murdered after arriving with his older son to bathe at Ein Ra'iya spring before Yom Kippur. According to preliminary investigation, the terrorist, a 37-year-old Hamas member from the Bir Zeit area, was familiar with the attack site and had even scouted it the day before. After a widespread manhunt, Duvdevan fighters raided a hospital in Ramallah, located him while wounded, and arrested him.
Concurrently, the IDF significantly increased readiness on the Gaza border and reinforced forces in the air and on the ground. The army emphasized that there is no concrete warning, but the readiness is intended to enable a quick response and early thwarting of any incident that develops.
