Military chief Eyal Zamir decided to bar leave on election day, according to N12. The decision formed part of preparations for the possibility that terrorist organizations would attempt attacks to influence the election.
According to the report, the military increased operations and adjusted defensive preparations in Gaza, Lebanon, Syria and along the Jordanian border. The report concerns possible attempted attacks, not an attack that has already occurred.
The report recalled Zamir's remarks during a visit to Central Command last week: the potential for escalation had increased, the military had raised its readiness level, and it was preparing for attempts to take it by surprise.
