MK Boaz Bismut (Likud), chairman of the Foreign and Security Committee, attacked the opposition in an interview on Radio Tzafon 104.5FM and claimed that all they care about is toppling Netanyahu, defended the draft law he promoted and said that from his perspective the policy of rounds has ended.
MK Boaz Bismut (Likud), chairman of the Foreign and Security Committee, responded today in an interview with Gadi Nes on Radio Tzafon 104.5FM to statements by Yair Lapid, who claimed that remarks made by Naftali Bennett saying that Benjamin Netanyahu could serve as a minister in a future government were said in jest. 'I would say that this party is a joke', Bismut attacked. According to him, the opposition keeps changing the figure who is supposed to face off against Netanyahu: 'Once it was Lapid, once it was Bennett, this time it's Eisenkot and tomorrow it could be the toaster I have in my kitchen'.
Bismut claimed that the upcoming elections will be of particular significance in light of the changes in the region and in the world. 'These are cardinal and important elections. It's either right or Palestine', he said, and also attacked Yair Golan and the possibility of forming a government relying on Arab parties. On the possibility of new elections he said: 'I think there should not be new elections', and added: 'There is no reason in the world why we won't win the elections'.
On the matter of the draft law, in which he was involved in promoting, Bismut rejected claims that it is a 'draft evasion law' and said: 'When I led this law I led history'. According to him, the purpose of the law is to significantly increase the number of Ultra-Orthodox draftees and incorporate personal and institutional sanctions against those who don't study Torah and don't enlist. 'We're not doing it bang and done, because we need to build infrastructure. The last thing we want is a civil war and protests in the streets', he added.
On the possibility of renewed confrontation with Iran and on the situation in all theaters he said: 'We need to finish the job, so we need to bring Netanyahu so we can continue the work'. According to him, 'the achievements are huge. We crushed the Iranian axis', and from his perspective the policy of rounds has ended: 'I want a decision. Good thing the prime minister also wants a decision'.
