According to Kikar HaShabbat, the United Torah Judaism delegation told the president this morning it would not recommend any candidate. Its representatives focused on their demand to settle the status of yeshiva students.
Yitzhak Pindrus told President Isaac Herzog that the faction would support whoever delivered a satisfactory arrangement for yeshiva students. According to the report, the decision to withhold a recommendation followed instructions from the faction's rabbinical leadership.
Herzog raised the recruitment of people who are not studying and the country's needs during a difficult period. Pindrus said the proposed arrangement concerned those whose full-time occupation is Torah study. These were positions presented during the consultation, not a newly approved law.
The report also noted that Yitzhak Goldknopf did not rule out serving in a government with Avigdor Liberman. That does not amount to an announcement of a coalition agreement, support for a specific candidate or a government already formed.
