According to Kikar HaShabbat, lawyer Michael Rabilo decided to withdraw from the race for state comptroller amid the changing balance in the Knesset. Retired judge Yosef Elron remains the only candidate.
The report attributes to Rabilo an assessment that his chances are low after the coalition lost its majority in the incoming Knesset. It also reports an assessment that no candidates can be added for the repeat election. These are assessments in the report, not a new Knesset decision reviewed separately.
The withdrawal follows the dispute over photographing ballots in the previous election procedure and its annulment by the High Court, according to the source. Rabilo is Benjamin Netanyahu's personal lawyer; his withdrawal does not mean Elron has already been elected.
