Feiglin proposes giving communities control over local Shabbat arrangements
Moshe Feiglin outlined a proposal distinguishing between state institutions and local communities. He says national institutions should respect Shabbat, while residents should decide local lifestyles without coercive legislation. This is the Zehut leader's election proposal, not an approved law or a change already in force.

Moshe Feiglin presented a proposal today under which state institutions would respect Shabbat while communities would determine their own local arrangements, according to Arutz 7.
The Zehut leader outlined his proposal in an interview at the Olam Katan conference. He called for less coercive legislation on community lifestyles while retaining Shabbat as the national day of rest in institutions representing the state. He cited Ben Gurion Airport and the public broadcaster.
Feiglin argued that legislative coercion had deepened divisions rather than building connections to tradition. The proposal is the party's position ahead of the election, not a law that has been approved or a change already in effect.
