TTM announced an agreement to acquire MKS's Ophir Optics business for approximately $650 million in cash. Completion is expected in the second quarter of 2027, subject to approvals and closing conditions.
The business develops and manufactures precision optics for thermal imaging and lasers, with production facilities in Israel and Romania. Its products serve defense, security and industrial applications, according to the buyer's announcement.
The announcement clarified that the transaction excludes MKS's separately operated Ophir Instruments laser measurement and characterization business, as well as the sale of the Ophir brand. The price is subject to customary closing adjustments.
Signing the agreement does not complete the acquisition. Regulatory approvals and governmental consents and permits are among the requirements. The second-quarter 2027 target is the companies' forecast. The Israeli connection and details of the business were also checked against Globes' report.
