The incident began with a pursuit of a suspect vehicle on Highway 65 and ended in Um El-Fahm, where according to police the Arab suspect exited the vehicle, attacked a Border Police fighter and assaulted him. The fighter, who felt his life was in danger, fired on him and he was subsequently pronounced dead. The Police Internal Investigations Division opened an investigation, questioned the fighter under caution and released him to five days of home arrest.
