Deputy Mayor of Ramat Hasharon, whose name is under a publishing ban, was called last week for additional interrogation at police on suspicion of threatening the female employee who complained that he sexually assaulted her. The case of suspicions of sexual offenses has already been transferred for examination by the prosecution, which is supposed to decide whether the evidence justifies continued proceedings.
According to the report, the new suspicion arose following an encounter that took place between the two of them within the framework of interrogation. During it, the deputy mayor of the city said he had WhatsApp messages she sent him and that he might expose them. According to a source involved in the interrogation, the investigator who was present at the encounter was impressed that the matter could be interpreted as an attempt to threaten her, and as a result, the deputy mayor of the city was also interrogated under warning on suspicion of threats.
According to the suspicion, sexual offenses were committed several years ago in the deputy mayor's office. The complainant is not directly subordinate to him and serves as secretary to another senior person in the municipality, and since the matter was exposed about a month and a half ago she has not returned to work. According to her, his senior position placed her in a position where she struggled to resist him, and this is one of the central issues that the prosecution will need to examine along with the evidence collected.
According to the deputy mayor's claim, the relationship between the two was consensual and the correspondence he has proves his version. His attorney, Attorney Ofer Almog, responded: 'The suspect completely denies threats against the complainant. The statements were made in the framework of police interrogation, before a police investigator and only out of genuine distress against false allegations raised by the complainant and proven false at the time they were made before the police investigator.'
