According to reports, a secret influence campaign against Qatar was launched in Israel by a senior political advisor, in cooperation with strategists and professionals from the field of public influence. The campaign began on the sixth day of the war, concurrent with a visit by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken to Israel and the establishment of the narrow government and war cabinet, and was intended to pressure Qatar to use its influence on Hamas to release the hostages.

According to reports, the participants coordinated the global activity in a dedicated WhatsApp group. The initiative began as a civil initiative, against the backdrop of a feeling of poor performance by authorities in the first days after the October 7 massacre.

Subsequently, according to reports, the various influence initiatives were consolidated under a government body, and the campaign against Qatar was stopped abruptly, without the precise reasons being explained.
