For Italian fishermen, the blue crab was a destructive invader. Then they discovered it's considered a delicacy in the rest of the world
Very few Italians love the taste of meat from this foreign predator, which has been blamed for wiping out shellfish in the delta of the Po River. Alongside attempts to prevent its spread, fishermen began hunting the crabs and sending them to Sri Lanka: 'We have no choice but to live with them, so at least we can make something from them'
